PECOAT® PVC plastisol coating passes REACH SVHC testing, demonstrating excellent safety quality

PVC coating REACH SVHC

PECOAT® PVC plastisol coating has successfully passed the REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) testing conducted by the internationally authoritative testing organization SGS. All indicators meet the stringent EU standards, adding an important safety guarantee for its application in the global market.

The testing scope fully covers the relevant substances published by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Specifically, it screened 250 substances in the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) published by ECHA on and before June 25, 2025. At the same time, it also conducted detailed testing on a total of 6 potential SVHCs, including 1 potential SVHC under identification and 5 potential SVHCs in the Intention List published by ECHA.

In terms of testing methods, SGS in-house methods were adopted, and a variety of advanced analytical techniques such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometry (UV-VIS), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Diode Array Detector/Mass Spectrometry (HPLCDAD/MS), and Colorimetric Method were used to comprehensively ensure the accuracy of the testing.

The test results show that PECOAT® PVC plastisol coating performed extremely well. In the testing of 250 SVHC substances in the Candidate List, the content of each substance in the sample was ≤ 0.1% (weight ratio), and the result was passed. For the 6 potential SVHC substances, their content in the sample was also ≤ 0.1% (weight ratio), and they also passed the testing smoothly. Moreover, all tested substances were not detected (ND), meaning their content was below the Reporting Limit (RL). The RLs of different substances vary according to their characteristics. For example, the RLs for elements such as cobalt, arsenic, and lead are 0.005%, and for molybdenum, it is 0.0005%, etc.

PVC plastisol coating passes REACH SVHC

This test result means that PECOAT® PVC plastisol coating fully complies with the requirements of the REACH Regulation. According to the relevant provisions of the REACH Regulation, since the concentration of substances in the sample that meet the specified standards does not exceed 0.1% (weight ratio), there is no need to perform additional information provision and notification obligations, nor is it necessary to prepare a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to meet the supply chain communication requirements. This clears the way for its circulation in the EU market.

The passing of REACH SVHC testing by PECOAT® PVC plastisol coating not only reflects PECOAT®’s high attention to and strict control over product quality and safety but also demonstrates its strength in international market competition. For downstream enterprises, using this coating can reduce compliance risks and ensure the smooth progress of production. For consumers, it is a promise of peace of mind, meaning that the relevant products they come into contact with have reliable chemical safety guarantees.
