Polyolefin PO Rotolining Powder Coatings for Pipe Lining
PECOAT® Polyolefin PO Rotolining Powder Coating
PECOAT® Polyolefin PO rotolining powder is a polyolefin powder material synthesized with polyethylene, polypropylene and a small amount of butadiene as carriers, belonging to a modified “plastic alloy” system. It is specially used for rotolining anti-corrosion on the inner wall of steel pipelines and storage tanks. Integrating excellent properties of multiple olefin materials, it delivers greatly improved mechanical performance compared with ordinary anti-corrosion polyethylene powder. It has prominent advantages in surface hardness, tensile strength and flexibility, and owns certain temperature resistance.

Use Market
PECOAT® PO lining polyolefin powder is specially formulated for thermal rotational lining (rotomolding) anti-corrosion on the inner wall of carbon steel equipment. It is widely applied as lining for storage tanks, pipelines and reaction kettles to contain and transport corrosive media including acids, alkalis and salts, and performs exceptionally well under negative pressure and vacuum working conditions.
Packing
25Kg/Bag
PECOAT® PO polyolefin powder is firstly packaged in a plastic bag to prevent the product from being contaminated and damp, as well as to avoid powder leakage. Then, packed with a woven bag to maintain their integrity and prevent the inner plastic bag from being damaged by sharp objects. Finally palletize all bags and wraped with thick protective film to fasten the cargo.
Request A Sample
Different substrate condition has different requirement for coating property, such as adhesion, flowing ability, temperature endurance, etc, these information is the basis of our sample design.
To maximize the chances of success of sample testing, and being responsible for both parties, kindly please supply the following information. Thank you so much for your serious treatment and cooperation.
FAQ
- For sample testing, 1-25kg/color, send by air.
- For formal order, 1000kg/color, send by sea.
Use Method
- Workpiece Pre-treatment: Process carbon steel tanks and pipelines, remove welding slag and burrs. Polish the edges and weld seams smooth to prevent sharp corners from impairing lining adhesion. Sandblast the inner surface to eliminate rust, scale and oil contamination for firm bonding between PO lining and steel substrate. For negative pressure service, steel mesh may be spot-welded and sandblasted accordingly.
- Thermal Rotational Lining: Heat the whole workpiece to 240-280°C via electric furnace or torch. Feed the required amount of PO powder and seal the ports. Rotate the workpiece at low speed; centrifugal force melts the powder and spreads it evenly over the inner wall.
- Curing & Cooling: Keep rotating during slow air cooling. Rapid cooling is prohibited until the workpiece reaches ambient temperature.
- Trimming & Inspection: Remove plugs and trim the lining at pipe nozzles. Carry out spark test to detect pinholes, together with visual inspection. Lining work is finished once qualified.

Comparison of PO/PE/PP as Linings
| Item | PO (Modified Polyolefin) | PE (Polyethylene) | PP (Polypropylene) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long-term working temp | -25 ~ 95℃ (max 105℃ short time) | -25 ~70℃ (max 80℃ short time) | 0 ~100℃, brittle below 0℃ |
| Negative pressure / vacuum | Best resistance, anti-delamination, ideal for vacuum service | Good at ambient temp; easy blistering under high temp vacuum | Poor low-temperature performance, not recommended for vacuum |
| Corrosion resistance | Resist dilute acid, alkali & salt; not for concentrated strong oxidants | Resist dilute acid, alkali & salt, good wear resistance | Good resistance to some organic solvents, poor low-temperature performance |
| Advantages | Strong adhesion, wide temperature range, suitable for vacuum tank & absorber | Low cost, excellent low-temperature toughness, wear-resistant | High temperature resistance, resist partial organic solvent |
| Limitations | Softens at high temperature, easy delamination under vacuum | Brittle at low temperature, not fit for negative pressure | |
| Typical application | Vacuum reactor, negative pressure absorber, chemical & flue gas desulfurization | Waste water, mineral slurry, drinking water storage | High temperature atmospheric chemical medium (no vacuum, no low temp) |
