Polyolefin PO Rotolining Powder Coatings for Pipe Lining

Polyolefin PO Rotolining Powder Coated Pipe Linings(1)

PECOAT® Polyolefin PO Rotolining Powder Coating

PECOAT® Polyolefin PO rotolining powder is a polyolefin powder material synthesized with polyethylene, polypropylene and a small amount of butadiene as carriers, belonging to a modified “plastic alloy” system. It is specially used for rotolining anti-corrosion on the inner wall of steel pipelines and storage tanks. Integrating excellent properties of multiple olefin materials, it delivers greatly improved mechanical performance compared with ordinary anti-corrosion polyethylene powder. It has prominent advantages in surface hardness, tensile strength and flexibility, and owns certain temperature resistance.

Main Features

PO rotolining powder coating process
finished steel pipe lining

PO polyolefin rotolining powder offers good resistance to dilute acids, alkalis and salt solutions. The dense liner blocks corrosive media and protects steel substrates from electrochemical corrosion. It performs well in wastewater and brine systems with no obvious swelling or degradation. It is not recommended for strong oxidants and powerful organic solvents. Verify fluid composition before material selection for corrosive aqueous applications.
PO rotolining powder supports continuous service from -40℃ to 100℃, wider than standard PE linings. It stays flexible at low temperatures and maintains shape at up to 100℃. Good thermal compatibility with steel reduces delamination risks during temperature cycling. Avoid long-term operation above 100℃ to prevent accelerated aging. It fits most indoor and outdoor industrial pipe lining projects.
PO lining maintains high toughness in cold environments, unlike brittle PP at low temperatures. It absorbs impact from vibration, water hammer and mechanical shocks to prevent cracking. It works reliably for cold-region outdoor pipelines with big seasonal temperature changes. The liner stays bonded to steel under sudden pressure shocks and reduces breakage risks during installation and operation.
Rotolining forms a solid bond between PO liner and properly treated steel surface. After curing, the liner resists peeling under working pressure and temperature cycles. Steel surface blasting and cleaning are required for optimal adhesion. The tight bond prevents corrosive media from penetrating under the liner, protecting the steel base and extending pipeline service life.
PO rotolining creates a smooth, uniform inner pipe surface, lowering fluid friction and pumping costs. The liner reduces scaling, sediment and biofouling inside pipes, lowering maintenance frequency. The melting rotolining process ensures consistent lining thickness. Stable flow performance can be sustained over long-term liquid transportation.
PO powder features higher hardness and tensile strength than ordinary PE lining powder. It better resists scratches, indentation and creep deformation under pressure, with less sagging at higher temperatures. Its superior mechanical properties suit pipelines with higher pressure and flow velocity. Though slightly more expensive, PO provides better stability for tough industrial piping.

Use Market

PECOAT® PO lining polyolefin powder is specially formulated for thermal rotational lining (rotomolding) anti-corrosion on the inner wall of carbon steel equipment. It is widely applied as lining for storage tanks, pipelines and reaction kettles to contain and transport corrosive media including acids, alkalis and salts, and performs exceptionally well under negative pressure and vacuum working conditions.

For storage and transportation of dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, various alkalis, salt solutions and most organic acids. Suitable for tanks and pipelines for chemical intermediates, fertilizers, printing & dyeing pigments and electroplating liquids. Note: Not resistant to strong concentrated oxidants (concentrated nitric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid) and some strong solvents. Storage Tanks and pipelines for chemical intermediates
Applied for flue gas desulfurization slurry in power plants, storage tanks for acid/alkali agents and flocculants, as well as pipelines for corrosive wastewater. It offers wear resistance and anti-scaling performance. pipelines for corrosive wastewater
Used for equipment lining to transport ore pulp, pickling waste liquid and solid-liquid two-phase slurry, meeting both anti-corrosion and wear-resistant requirements.
Food-grade PO powder is non-toxic with no substance precipitation. It can be used for storage and transportation of drinking water, food liquids and purified water.
Widely used in power, semiconductor, petroleum and light industries. Especially suitable for equipment under negative pressure / vacuum conditions (vacuum reaction tanks, negative pressure absorption towers). Compared with PE lining, PO lining is less prone to collapse and peel off under vacuum. vacuum conditions (vacuum reaction tanks

Packing

25Kg/Bag

PECOAT® PO polyolefin powder is firstly packaged in a plastic bag to prevent the product from being contaminated and damp, as well as to avoid powder leakage. Then, packed with a woven bag to maintain their integrity and prevent the inner plastic bag from being damaged by sharp objects. Finally palletize all bags and wraped with thick protective film to fasten the cargo.

    Use Method

    PO Powder using process
    1. Workpiece Pre-treatment: Process carbon steel tanks and pipelines, remove welding slag and burrs. Polish the edges and weld seams smooth to prevent sharp corners from impairing lining adhesion. Sandblast the inner surface to eliminate rust, scale and oil contamination for firm bonding between PO lining and steel substrate. For negative pressure service, steel mesh may be spot-welded and sandblasted accordingly.
    2. Thermal Rotational Lining: Heat the whole workpiece to 240-280°C via electric furnace or torch. Feed the required amount of PO powder and seal the ports. Rotate the workpiece at low speed; centrifugal force melts the powder and spreads it evenly over the inner wall.
    3. Curing & Cooling: Keep rotating during slow air cooling. Rapid cooling is prohibited until the workpiece reaches ambient temperature.
    4. Trimming & Inspection: Remove plugs and trim the lining at pipe nozzles. Carry out spark test to detect pinholes, together with visual inspection. Lining work is finished once qualified.
